Welcome to The Post

by Heather Mangan on February 1, 2010 · 3 comments

Greetings,

As you can see, we’ve changed things up a bit here at www.thepostsd.com. but our alterations are more than just adding a few buttons and some color. Our new site is about function. We are operating on a new platform to streamline content flow and allow more interaction between our contributors and readers.

The first side bar on the right directs you to The Post content. You can find articles by categories, most views and recent comments. The buttons at the top of the column will direct you to our social media sites that contains fragments of our content as well other pieces of info from our staff and contributors.

The second side bar allows you to connect with The Post. The donations and sponsorships allow you to financially support our organization. The Posterous feed allows our readers and contributors to submit text, videos and photos from any location by emailing thepostsd@thepostsd.posterous.com. Saw a cool sign or found out about a neat event? Use The Post’s poseterous to share it with people beyond your social circle.

Changes to The Post go deeper than a site redesign. We are redefining our mission to be a story a co-op, meaning The Post is a team of contributors who work together to bring you narratives and exposés about the people of and life in South Dakota. We exist merely because we are passionate about sharing stories and journalism. We strive to be a media outlet that is beneficial to our contributors and readers.

The Post isn’t always going to present a perspective you agree with and or tell the story you want you to hear, but we welcome you to comment on our stories and send in suggestions. We can’t be a publication for the people if we don’t know what the people want. And if you don’t like the way we do something, we are always looking for contributors to help make us better.

In a few days, we’ll be five months old and we’ll continue to make changes and alterations until we are what South Dakotans need. We appreciate all the support from our readers and the dedication of contributors and we look forward to continue being South Dakota’s home for journalism.

In the next few weeks, we’ll be transferring and formatting content from our previous site. Also, we’ll be posting tutorials and instructions on how to use the site. Take a look around the site and if you see something missing or have any questions, please let us know at news@thepostsd.com.

As always, thank you for reading.
